Loren Schauers, from Montana, had to have the bottom half of his body amputated after a horrific accident with a forklift. Since then, he has been in severe pain due to a kidney stone but has now left hospital

A man who has been amputated from the waist down after a devastating accident has shared a heartwarming health update.

Loren Schauers, from Montana, was involved in a severe forklift truck incident in 2019 that led to half of his body being amputated. The accident occurred when he veered off a bridge and fell 50ft, with the forklift crushing his lower half and also destroying his right arm.

To save his life, he opted for hemicorporectomy surgery. Despite the challenges, Loren remains positive, supported by his partner Sabia and his family. They use social media to raise awareness about living with disabilities.

Recently, Loren was taken back to the hospital due to a kidney infection and passing a kidney stone.

Despite the pain, he continues to fight through difficulties and encourages others in similar situations to live life to the fullest with what they have.

In a sweet post on Instagram yesterday, Sunday, July 30, the couple shared an update: "We're back to where we should be... home. Out of the hospital." A picture showed the two of them under a huge red heart decoration.

A previous update last Wednesday, July 26, Loren informed his followers of the infection, saying: "Drink water like no other in life. Yet I’m still needing to be put into the ER (emergency room) for a kidney infection and my body passing a kidney stone. Why does there always have to be some catch?"

Last month, his wife Sabia said Loren was in ‘considerable pain’ but that - as ever - he continued to ‘fight through it’. She wrote: “Just our Sunday check-in with you all. Unfortunately, Loren is not having a great day, it's a day with considerable pain so no picture of him today. Not every day can be great and wonderful but being the extraordinary guy he is, he's fighting his way through it all. We love you all!"

Despite his injuries, Loren tries to remain positive - offering advice to others who may face similar challenges, he said: "My best advice to anyone going through something like this is that you can't focus on the things you can't have and you must live your life to the fullest with what you do have."

A kidney stone can be extremely painful and can lead to kidney infections or the kidney not working properly if left untreated. It occurs when waste products in the blood form crystals that collect inside the kidneys. Over time, the crystals may build up to form a hard stone-like lump.
